Working at the County Fair: Mini Bull Riding

So, one of the activities on the first day of fair was the miniature bull riding show. This had kids and teens under 120 lbs riding mini bulls. There was also mutton bustin' for the littler kiddies. Something I liked about working for the fair, was that since they wanted me to take pictures, I was let in to pretty much any show that I had time to go to. This one was really cool, I'd never seen little riders like this before.

I was actually down in the arena for these pictures. I was a little nervous, 'cause everyone in the grandstands had a clear view of whatever I was doing, and I didn't know what I was doing! I'm not used to being this close to animals like these. My father-in-law made sure to tease me about when I jumped back a little when one of the bulls ran my way and slammed into the fence right in front of me. I don't know what you think, but I think that I totally had a right to be a little jumpy :P lol. But this was a really neat experience. Even though it really made me wish I had some lenses that were more suited to low light and actiony situations. However, since those kinds of lenses are out of my price range, I did what I could with the lenses I had. Here's some of the pics. Enjoy!

Working at the County Fair: Ice Cream Freeze Off and Rainbows

This past summer, I was able to work for the Fremont County Fair and Rodeo in Riverton Wyoming. Everything was so new to me, someone who had only been to a handful of Rodeos and never been to a county fair before. Although my main responsibilities were to input information into the computer, I was also able to take pictures for the fair. They wanted me to get some shots of everything that was going on so they can use the pictures on their fliers and fairbook in the future (how cool huh!).

I was able to get tons and tons of pictures. And now that I have a computer that actually works (my laptop died this summer, delaying my processing these fun images), I can finally share them with you. So, without further ado, my experiences working for the fair. Enjoy!

This was a double rainbow that appeared on the first day of the fair. We were all worried that the rain would ruin many of the activities. But it didn't pour too bad, and how awesome is that site?! I only wish I could have done a better job at capturing it. I'm afraid it caught me unprepared. I had to run across the grounds from the hypnotist show to grab my camera, and the card was full (eh, I was doing my best storing the images when I didn't actually have a reliable computer to work with). I merged a couple of shots in photoshop and was able to create this panorama of the scene.

The very first day of fair was the family fun day, and as part of it, an Ice cream freeze off was held. Families competed by trying to concoct their best ice cream dish using ice cream balls. The kids sure were cute rolling the balls around (and eating the contents before they even had ice cream :D ). Everyone had a lot of fun. Here is just a couple of pictures. I wish I could post them all! but then this post would be extremely long. I already have to break up my fair experience into separate posts.

Anyways, that's all the pics for now. Stay tuned for more fair pics, as I get them touched up I'll be posting more! Have a good day!

More of My Beautiful Roommates (Photos from the Archive)

So, Fall Semester 2009 seems to have been an awesome time for me and picture taking, seemed like people were always willing to go out and take some pictures with me, and I was able to get a ton of practice... Not quite sure what happened, as I seem to have hit a dry spell and have resorted to posting old pictures instead of new ones, but what can you do?

Anyways, here were some of the pictures I got of our group of roommates. The grass quickly became one of our favorite spots to go for pictures, which you've probably noticed if you've taken a look around my blog. Enjoy! And have a wonderful, crisp, cool, magnificent fall day everyone! :)

Brother & Sister Pics (Photos from the Archive)

Almost a year ago, my friend Aaron asked me to take some pictures of him and his sister. They wanted to give their parents some pictures in a frame for Christmas. They found a frame with 5 spaces for pictures. We were able to fill the frame, and make some fun memories. Taking pics with this duo was definitely a lot of fun :)
